Overview
- Najeebullah Arab, 39, of Mayfield Avenue in Grove, has been charged with one count each of kidnap, rape and sexual assault.
- He was remanded in custody and appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, with a plea and trial preparation hearing listed at Oxford Crown Court on March 6 at 10:30am.
- The charges relate to an alleged kidnap and rape near Mably Way in Wantage on January 27 and an alleged sexual assault on Cane Lane in Grove on January 21.
- Police say Arab was arrested on suspicion of a further sexual assault on Oxford Lane on January 24 but he has not been charged in relation to that incident.
- Thames Valley Police have deployed additional officers for reassurance patrols and issued a public appeal for information, with Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May thanking residents for their support.
