- Disney’s official operating calendar, published Monday, August 31, lists the Walt Disney World Railroad as closed from September 28 through about October 30, 2026.
- The scheduled downtime applies to the entire attraction and will end the shortened shuttle service that has run between Main Street, U.S.A. and Storybook Circus.
- The railroad has been operating in shuttle mode since July 7, 2025, when Disney added Stitch narration and changed some seating while the Frontierland station was taken out of service for construction.
- Disney has not provided a public explanation of the work to be done during the monthlong closure, and news outlets say the timing is likely linked to the nearby Piston Peak (Cars) and Disney Villains Land projects though that link is unconfirmed.
- The shutdown removes a low-effort transport and nostalgic stop during a busy October/Halloween season and leaves the full loop’s return dependent on the multi-year Frontierland construction timeline, which has previously forced long railroad outages.
