VW Brings ID. Buzz Back for 2027 With Factory Camper Tourer as ID.4 Pauses

The strategy courts a clear niche to stabilize sales during a broader EV lineup reset.

Overview

  • Volkswagen, which detailed its 2027 U.S. lineup on Thursday, confirmed the ID. Buzz returns with deliveries of 2027 models starting in August 2026.
  • The new Tourer 4Motion trim adds a fold-out mattress and platform, fitted window blinds, front-window vent panels, an outdoor table and chairs, Overnight Mode for camping, a retractable tow hitch, captain’s chairs, and an electrochromic roof.
  • All 2027 ID. Buzz models adopt Volkswagen’s Android-based ID.S 6 software with a refreshed interface and app store, gain true one-pedal driving, and include a North American Charging System adapter for access to Tesla Superchargers.
  • The revised trim lineup is Pro S RWD, Pro S 4Motion, Tourer 4Motion, and Pro S Plus 4Motion, with two-tone paint standard and a new Candy White over Cherry Red option.
  • VW says the ID.4 will skip a 2027 model year in the U.S., with MY26 inventory sold into 2027 as the company develops an all-new SUV on the updated MEB+ platform, and dealers are advertising a reported $7,500 cash incentive to clear current stock after modest ID. Buzz sales in 2025.
