Volvo Adds Tesla Superchargers to Its App Across Europe

The company says the integration will let drivers control and pay for fast charging from Volvo’s app and advance wider charging compatibility.

Overview

  • Volvo confirmed Tuesday that, starting in the fourth quarter of 2026, its app will provide access to more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharger stalls across 29 European countries.
  • All current Volvo battery EVs with native CCS2 ports — the EX30, EX40, EC40, EX60, EX90 and ES90 — will be eligible to use the Superchargers through the Volvo app.
  • Plug-in hybrid Volvos are excluded because their Type 2 connectors support only AC charging and cannot accept the CCS2 DC plug used at most European Superchargers.
  • Volvo said the move lets drivers start, manage and pay for Supercharger sessions from one app and builds on the Volvo app’s existing link to over three million charging points worldwide.
  • The company also plans to switch selected Japan and South Korea models to Tesla’s NACS standard by 2029 using the SAE J3400 specification, a step that could push further cross-network standardisation and simpler charging for drivers.
