Volkswagen Launches ID.3 Neo With Buttons Back and 391-Mile Range

The relaunch signals a reset toward simpler controls to restore a familiar VW feel across its next wave of European EVs.

Overview

  • The compact hatch, which opened European pre-sales on Thursday, is slated for first deliveries in July with full pricing still to come.
  • Volkswagen rebuilt the cabin with physical climate keys, a console volume knob, a new steering wheel with real buttons, and larger screens measuring 10.25 inches for the driver and 12.9 inches in the center.
  • The updated lineup offers rear-drive motors at 125 kW, 140 kW, or 170 kW and batteries at 50, 58, or 79 kWh, reaching up to 630 km (391 miles) on the WLTP test.
  • The largest 79 kWh pack supports DC fast charging up to 183 kW and smaller packs peak at 105 kW, and all versions add vehicle-to-load power up to 3.6 kW for running devices.
  • The exterior adopts VW’s new Pure Positive look with a full-width light bar and body-color roof and tailgate, the trims simplify to Trend, Life, and Style, there are no U.S. sales plans, and a sportier flagship is planned later.
