Overview
- Volkswagen unveiled the ID. Cross and opened advance sales in Germany on 15–16 July 2026, with Life and Style trims fitted with the 155 kW motor and 52 kWh battery available to order now from €36,525 and the entry Trend trim priced from €27,995 scheduled to go on sale later.
- The ID. Cross is built on the updated MEB+ platform, uses a single front‑motor layout offered in 85 kW, 99 kW and 155 kW outputs, and comes with two usable battery sizes: a lower‑cost 37 kWh LFP pack and a 52 kWh NMC pack that VW rates at up to 427 km WLTP.
- Charging and practicality targets are concrete: DC fast charging up to 90 kW (37 kWh) or 105 kW (52 kWh) for roughly 10–80% in about 23–24 minutes, 11 kW AC charging, standard vehicle‑to‑load output to 3.6 kW, a 475‑litre boot and a 25‑litre front storage compartment.
- Interior and driver aids have been revised after earlier ID feedback, with a 12.9‑inch central screen, 10.25‑inch digital cluster with a retro mode, reinstated physical controls for key functions, optional Harman Kardon audio and Connected Travel Assist that recognises traffic lights.
- The ID. Cross extends Volkswagen’s strategy to scale EV volumes by trading down battery capacity and complexity to cut price while keeping perceived premium features; European deliveries are due later in 2026 and wider international rollouts remain unannounced.
