Overview
- Volkswagen revealed the second-generation 2027 Atlas on Tuesday at the New York International Auto Show with an all-new exterior and interior for the U.S. market.
- The updated 2.0-liter EA888 evo5 turbo makes 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, up 13 hp but down 15 lb-ft versus the old model, and towing stays at 5,000 pounds.
- The Atlas moves to VW’s MQB Evo platform and will be built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, aligning design and production with U.S. buyer needs.
- Inside, buyers get real-wood trim, 12.9- or 15-inch touchscreens, a column-mounted shifter, seven USB-C ports, dual Qi2 wireless phone chargers and expanded ambient lighting options.
- VW’s IQ.DRIVE adds driver-initiated lane changes and an emergency feature that can pull the SUV to the roadside, and sales start this fall with pricing to be announced and a hybrid planned for a later refresh.
