Overview
- The telco reported a Rs 51,970 crore net profit after Saturday’s quarterly results, its first in six years, driven by a one-time gain tied to adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues.
- A DoT reassessment cut frozen AGR dues from Rs 87,695 crore to Rs 64,046 crore, creating an exceptional credit of Rs 55,622 crore under accounting rules.
- The revised AGR bill is staggered with token Rs 100 crore yearly payments from 2032 to 2035, then Rs 10,608 crore a year from 2036 to 2041, plus separate spectrum charges of Rs 124 crore a year through 2031.
