Overview
- About 350 households in Munich’s Trudering-Riem have been without internet, cable TV and landline since January 7 due to a connection fault in Vodafone’s fiber network.
- In nearby Garching, up to 243 customers have had the same services down since January 1, with final excavation and component replacement scheduled to start Friday, January 9, if weather allows.
- Vodafone traced the outages to a defective underground coupling on the affected feed routes and plans to remove the part and install a new network element.
- The company says Tiefbau crews are ready, with Trudering-Riem works slated for Sunday or Monday pending municipal approval, and completion expected within one to two working days under suitable conditions.
- Vodafone reports diagnostics and site checks are complete and has apologized to customers, while a separate report from Zittau describes a similar fault affecting up to 12 users that also requires excavation.
