VJ Edgecombe Fouls Out as Bahamas Advance in FIBA World Cup Qualifying

Edgecombe fouled out in the third quarter of Monday’s game against Puerto Rico after picking up his fifth personal foul under FIBA’s five-foul rule, which limits player minutes compared with the NBA.
He still produced 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting with five 3-pointers, six rebounds and five steals over 28 minutes despite the early exit.
The Bahamas lost to Puerto Rico 115-92 but advanced to the second qualifying round because of other results, and they were placed in Group F with Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, Panama and Puerto Rico.
FIBA’s second round begins in late August with the Bahamas scheduled to play Uruguay on Aug. 27 and Panama on Aug. 31, dates that are likely Edgecombe’s last availability before the 2026-27 NBA season.
