Overview
- LACMA announced Wednesday that the 15th annual Art+Film Gala will be held Nov. 7 and will honor artist Vija Celmins and filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
- The event will be co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio with Gucci returning as the presenting sponsor, continuing a partnership that began when the gala launched in 2011.
- Vija Celmins, 87, is celebrated for detailed paintings, drawings and prints of natural scenes held by major museums while Denis Villeneuve, 58, is a leading filmmaker whose recent Dune: Part Two earned large box office returns and awards and who is set to complete the Dune trilogy and direct the next James Bond.
- Proceeds from the black‑tie benefit support LACMA’s exhibitions, acquisitions and film‑focused education programs, and last year’s gala raised a reported $6.5 million for the museum.
- This will be LACMA’s first Art+Film Gala since opening the David Geffen Galleries in spring 2026, a timing the museum is using to boost visibility and donor support for its expanded art‑and‑film initiatives.
