Overview
- Djurgårdens IF disclosed Saturday that it has granted Björck a release so he can continue his development in the Winnipeg Jets organization for the 2026-27 season.
- Björck has not signed an NHL entry-level contract and is therefore ineligible to play NHL games for Winnipeg until a deal is completed.
- Under the NHL–Swedish transfer agreement, Winnipeg can assign Björck to AHL Manitoba after training camp without Djurgården’s permission, and most reporting projects he will begin the year in Manitoba.
- Björck remains draft-slide eligible, which means if he plays fewer than 10 NHL games his first year of the entry-level contract would be deferred to 2027-28.
- Winnipeg calls him its top prospect after taking him eighth overall and has expressed public enthusiasm, while Djurgården says it will adjust its roster to replace his minutes and the Jets may explore short-term center options if Björck is not NHL-ready.
