Video Shows Antisemitic Abuse of Jewish Attendees at London Pride

The Metropolitan Police have opened a formal review of the footage, prompting community groups to demand that those responsible be identified and charged.

Overview

  • Short clips widely shared online show Jewish revellers being shouted at with explicit slurs and phrases such as “go back to your Zionist homeland,” “you kill Arab children, you kill gay children,” and “f*** you, Jew.”
  • The Metropolitan Police said officers are reviewing footage and have launched an investigation to assess whether criminal offences, including religiously aggravated public order offences, took place during Saturday’s parade.
  • Video appears to show officers standing nearby as the abuse happened, and no arrests for racist or religious offences linked to the event have been reported so far.
  • Campaign Against Antisemitism and other groups have called for perpetrators to be identified and prosecuted, and some Jewish LGBTQ+ organisations said they did not take part in Pride this year because of safety fears.
  • The episode comes against a wider rise in anti-Jewish incidents in London since October 2023, with police-recorded incidents climbing in recent months and the Met establishing a dedicated community protection team to respond to the trend.
