Overview
- VECRA, Victoria’s new early‑childhood regulator, said Tuesday it will suspend Milestones Early Learning Werribee’s service approval for 90 days after repeat safety breaches.
- Inspectors reported babies left unsupervised, unsafe sleep practices, ripped furniture, broken gates, peeling paint and hazardous electrical cords that could harm children.
- The regulator said the service failed to report required incidents and did not fix problems after an earlier inspection.
- VECRA warned that failure to comply could trigger prosecution or cancellation of approval, with maximum penalties of about $1,034,100.
- VECRA began on January 1 after a 2025 safety review prompted by abuse allegations across the sector, and former worker Joshua Dale Brown briefly worked at the Werribee site in August 2024.
