Victoria Police Hit Youth Gang With 40 Firearm Bans After Raids

The orders let officers conduct surprise weapons checks on targeted youths.

Overview

  • Victoria Police said 40 alleged members aged 17 to 26 are now under firearm prohibition orders following home raids over the past fortnight.
  • Twelve orders were served in suburbs from Sebastopol to Tarneit, and four people were arrested over vehicle theft, drug possession and handling stolen goods.
  • An FPO bans a person from having guns or ammunition and lets police search them or their homes without notice.
  • Operation Alliance is continuing with unannounced checks and bail monitoring, with 88 other youths linked to gangs currently under FPOs.
  • Police link the group to more than 4,500 offences, including several homicides, and say they will not name it to avoid fuelling notoriety, noting almost 400 gang members faced weapons charges in 2025.
