Victoria Cox Weighs Plea Offer in Mississippi Case Tied to Loranger Killings

The offer follows co-defendant Daniel Callihan’s guilty pleas across jurisdictions, his federal sentencing set for Nov. 19.

Overview

  • Cox, 34, was presented a plea deal at an Oct. 13 pretrial hearing in Hinds County, and her attorneys said they will review it with her.
  • Prosecutors said Cox must decide by the end of October or proceed to a Dec. 8 trial in Jackson on charges of capital murder, kidnapping and sexual battery.
  • Callihan pleaded guilty in Hinds County on Sept. 29 to capital murder, two kidnappings and two sexual batteries, receiving life in prison plus additional terms.
  • He also pleaded guilty in Tangipahoa Parish on Sept. 26 in the killings of Callie Brunett and 4-year-old Erin, and he faces federal sentencing on Nov. 19 under a plea that removed death-penalty exposure.
  • Federal filings say Callihan admitted murdering the mother in Louisiana, abducting both daughters to Mississippi, sexually abusing the 6-year-old and killing her sister; the surviving child was found in a dirt pit during a multi-agency search.
