Victims Identified After Clearlake Traffic Stop Uncovers Two Bodies

CHP says the case likely began in Sonoma County, prompting a cross-county homicide investigation.

Overview

  • The stop, which began Sunday in Clearlake as a registration check on a gray Chevy Suburban, ended on 18th Avenue near Oak Street after the driver initially refused to pull over.
  • Passenger Alex Kenneth Schussolin, 37, tried to run but was detained, and officers later found a gun near where he fled.
  • An officer saw blood in the SUV and found an unresponsive man in the rear; detectives then located a second victim, a woman, down an embankment off State Route 175 north of the county line.
  • CHP booked Schussolin and driver Jasslynn Pearl Critchett, 32, into Lake County Jail on suspicion of murder, carjacking, and being felons in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
  • The Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday identified the victims as Terry Joe Harris, 58, and Desiree Carmen Fuentes, 43, both from Santa Rosa, and investigators are seeking tips at 1-800-TELL-CHP.
