ViCentra Launches Kaleido Smartphone-Controlled Insulin Pump in Europe With Diabeloop DBLG2 and Dexcom G7
The rollout opens a path to start patients now on DBLG1 with Dexcom G6 and move them to DBLG2 with G7 once the newer setup is in place.
Overview
- ViCentra introduced its Kaleido hybrid closed-loop system in Europe, pairing the patch pump with Diabeloop’s DBLG2 algorithm and Dexcom’s G7 glucose sensor.
- First commercial deliveries are planned for Germany and the Netherlands later this summer following a pilot in the Netherlands and a showcase at the DDG Diabetes Congress in Berlin.
- Diabeloop’s DBLG2 cleared an updated CE mark for use with Dexcom G7 and Kaleido and is starting a phased European launch through an Android app with iOS support expected soon.
- For immediate access, ViCentra and Diabeloop advise beginning therapy on Kaleido with DBLG1 and Dexcom G6, then switching patients to DBLG2 with G7 when available.
- DBLG2 runs on a patient’s phone as a self-learning controller that reads glucose, calculates insulin needs in real time, and adjusts dosing automatically without mandatory meal announcements, aiming to cut daily management burden.
