Overview
- Vestas announced a plan to build a nacelle and hub assembly plant in Scotland for its V236-15 MW offshore turbine.
- The company estimated more than EUR 250 million in capital and up to 500 direct jobs.
- Vestas said it will only commit after securing enough UK contracts through AR7 projects and the next AR8 round, which are auctions that award fixed-price power deals.
- The order book now includes two firm RWE deals for 184 V236 units for the Vanguard East and West wind farms.
- The site has not been chosen, and Vestas is targeting production in 2029–2030 subject to planning and co-investment talks with UK and Scottish governments.
