Vermont Postal Carrier Suspended, Cited Over Months of Discarded Mail

State police say recovered items were routed back for delivery as federal postal investigators review the case.

Overview

  • Police found assorted mail in a residential dumpster on Elm Street in North Troy on Jan. 23, none addressed to that property.
  • Investigators identified carrier Natasha Morisseau, 34, and concluded a small portion of mail on her route had been discarded regularly since at least mid-October 2025.
  • Opened and unopened packages and holiday cards were recovered from the dumpster and her delivery vehicle, and only one of six opened cards contained money.
  • Morisseau was cited on Feb. 14 for nine counts of petit larceny and five counts of unlawful mischief and is due in Vermont Superior Court on March 17.
  • USPS suspended Morisseau, returned recovered items to the post office for delivery, and referred the matter to the Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
