Overview
- The access charge, which resumed Friday, applies on selected days from April 3 to July 26 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Day visitors pay €10 per person or €5 if they book at least three days in advance and show a QR code at entry points.
- Overnight guests are exempt from the day fee but pay a separate lodging tax, while residents, children under 14, and people with disabilities are also exempt with proof.
- The number of chargeable days has grown from 29 to 54 to 60 across three seasons, yet many visitors still skip payment and checks have not been strict.
- Venice also limits tour groups to 25 people, bans loudspeakers, and fines those who block bridges or alleys, and last year 720,000 registered day trippers generated about €5.4 million to help manage flows.
