Overview
- La Biennale publicly named the sidebar juries Monday, appointing Valérie Donzelli to chair the Orizzonti (Horizons) jury and Carolina Cavalli to chair the Luigi De Laurentiis (Lion of the Future) debut-film jury.
- Donzelli's five-person Horizons jury includes Peter Becker, Elizabeth Lo, David Pablos and Barbara Ronchi and will decide awards for experimental and trend-setting films in the Horizons strand.
- Cavalli will be joined on the debut-film jury by Akinola Davies Jr. and Ted Hope, and that jury will pick its winner from feature-length first films across the festival and its sidebars.
- The Luigi De Laurentiis prize carries $100,000 donated by Filmauro to be split equally between director and producer, and the Horizons jury will hand out seven distinct prizes with no joint awards permitted.
- The festival runs Sept. 2–12 with all awards announced at the Sept. 12 closing ceremony in the Sala Grande; the main competition jury and a Golden Lion lifetime award for George Clooney were announced earlier.
