Overview
- Venice Classics announced its 19-title slate on Friday, July 3, 2026, and those restorations will be shown at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival running Sept. 2–12, 2026.
- The lineup includes landmark works such as Roberto Rossellini’s Viaggio in Italia restored by Cinecittà S.p.A., Andrzej Wajda’s Ashes and Diamonds restored by Di Factory, Roman Polanski’s Cul-de-sac restored by Fixafilm, John Cassavetes’s Minnie and Moskowitz restored by Universal Pictures, and Roger Corman’s The Wild Angels restored by Amazon MGM Studios.
- Tinto Brass’s Col Cuore in Gola (Deadly Sweet) will serve as the Venice Classics pre-opening screening in a restoration by the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
- Italian director Daniele Vicari will chair the Venice Classics jury of 24 film students who will award prizes for Best Restored Film and Best Documentary on Cinema, and the festival’s full official selection will be published on July 23, 2026.
- The restorations credit a wide network of archives, studios and specialist houses, a collaboration that both preserves fragile film elements and can prompt renewed theatrical runs, scholarship, and distribution opportunities for overlooked international works.
