Vauxhall/Opel Unveil 277-HP Electric Corsa GSE, Their Quickest Road Car

The EV hot hatch revives the brand’s performance lineage using Stellantis’ small-car platform.

Overview

  • The Corsa GSE, which Vauxhall and Opel revealed Wednesday, delivers 276–277 hp, 254 lb-ft of torque and a 0–62 mph time of 5.5 seconds, making it the quickest accelerating Vauxhall on sale.
  • Front-wheel drive hardware includes a Torsen limited-slip differential, lowered sports suspension, bespoke axles, hydraulic dampers, four-piston performance brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
  • A 54 kWh battery with 51 kWh usable capacity supports the powertrain, and the car sits on Stellantis’ CMP architecture shared with models like the Peugeot e-208 GTi.
  • Three drive modes change output and speed limits, with Sport unlocking full power, Normal dropping to about 228 bhp and Eco capping top speed to 93 mph.
  • A public debut is set for the Paris Motor Show in October, with pricing, certified range and full market rollout still unannounced, and local reporting suggests South Africa may not get the car.
