Vatican Delivers 80 Generators and Medicines to Ukraine, Prepares Additional Shipment

The Dicastery for the Service of Charity organized the deliveries in response to strikes on energy infrastructure during a deep freeze.

Overview

  • Three lorries departed from the Basilica of Saint Sophia in Rome and have reached Fastiv and Kyiv, areas affected by recent attacks.
  • The cargo includes 80 electricity generators intended to power heated shelters so people can warm up and receive hot meals.
  • Thousands of medicines were delivered, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, supplements and melatonin to address stress-related sleep loss.
  • The Dicastery said another lorry is being prepared with additional antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, antihypertensives and food supplies.
  • Distribution will be carried out through parish networks across Ukraine, with Banco Farmaceutico and Procter & Gamble acknowledged for support.
