Vatican Confirms First Modern Papal Visit to Monaco on March 28

The trip follows Prince Albert II’s personal invitation delivered in January.

  • The Holy See announced Pope Léon XIV will make a one-day official visit to Monaco on Saturday, 28 March.
  • It will be the first visit by a reigning pope to the principality since contemporary apostolic travel began in the 1960s.
  • Prince Albert II met the pope in Rome in January to extend the invitation in person.
  • The Vatican said their discussions covered the environment, human dignity, humanitarian aid and defence.
  • The announcement came alongside plans for visits to Algeria, Cameroon, Angola and Equatorial Guinea from 13–23 April, followed by Spain from 6–12 June.
