Vanillaware Announces Muramasa: Revenant Blades for PS5, Switch, Switch 2 and PC

The reworked release modernizes the Vita edition with 4K, new combat systems and English voiceover while bringing Vanillaware to Steam for the first time.

Overview

  • Marvelous and Vanillaware announced the game on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, and set an early 2027 launch window for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
  • Revenant Blades bundles Muramasa Rebirth and the Genroku Legends add-on so all six playable protagonists and their storylines are available from the start.
  • The title is updated for modern hardware with support for up to 4K resolution, revised combat and weapon systems, additional modes, and a new English localization with voiceover.
  • Physical pre-orders and a Limited Edition have been disclosed with MSRPs; the Switch 2 physical cartridge will carry a $10 higher price and include the full game on the cart.
  • The Steam listing marks Vanillaware’s first official PC release, a move outlets say could pave the way for future PC ports and expand the studio’s audience beyond consoles.
