Vande Bharat Extended to Narasapur as Service Launches With First Run to Chennai

The extension delivers a direct daytime link to Chennai from Coastal Andhra.

  • Union minister B. Srinivasa Varma flagged off the Narasapur–Chennai service on December 15, with the Chennai-originating return to start on December 17.
  • The train operates six days a week excluding Tuesdays under an initial timetable active through January 11, with revised timings to take effect from January 12.
  • The 655 km journey takes about 8 hours 55 minutes with stops at Renigunta, Nellore, Ongole, Tenali, Vijayawada, Gudivada and Bhimavaram Town.
  • The eight-coach rake comprises seven AC Chair Cars and one Executive Chair Car, offering 530 seats in total.
  • Fares are ₹1,635 for AC Chair Car and ₹3,030 for Executive Chair Car, and officials note this is the first Vande Bharat to run on a branch line, removing the need to change at Vijayawada.
