- A video posted by the Ministry of Railways on X on Wednesday shows the Vande Bharat Express emerging through thick monsoon fog as it crosses the Chenab Rail Bridge, drawing wide attention online.
- The Chenab Rail Bridge stands about 359 metres above the Chenab River, measures roughly 1,315 metres long, and used an estimated 25,000 tonnes of steel during construction.
- Engineers used advanced tools such as 3D spatial modelling, satellite imagery and careful geological study to overcome narrow mountain roads, unstable rock, deep gorges and high winds during the bridge’s build.
- Rail officials say the bridge is a key link in the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link and will enable more reliable, year‑round rail service to the Kashmir Valley, reducing dependence on roads that are often cut by landslides or weather.
