Vandals Deface Mural Honoring Three Chicago Police Officers

Cook County Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward to prompt tips that could identify those responsible.

  • The mural in the 6800 block of South Pulaski Road on the Southwest Side was found defaced on Monday, June 15, and local leaders and residents discovered damage to the tribute soon after.
  • The artwork honors Officers Luis Huesca, Andrés Mauricio Vásquez Lasso and Enrique Martinez and was marked with graffiti that investigators say included the letters "TKASH" across parts of the images.
  • Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest or indictment and is taking anonymous tips at 1-800-535-STOP or CPDTIP.com.
  • Officials and elected leaders have urged the mural be cleaned and restored, while family members of the fallen officers described the vandalism as painful and asked the public to respect the memorial.
  • The Chicago Police Department says the case remains under active investigation, no arrests have been made, and investigators are reviewing video and witness leads including reports of a social media post that may have been removed.
