Vance Defends Gaza Ceasefire at Heckled Campus Event

Humanitarian groups say the truce has failed because Israeli controls still block large-scale relief.

Overview

  • Vice President JD Vance, speaking at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia on Tuesday, was interrupted by protesters who shouted that the administration is killing children.
  • Vance credited President Donald Trump with securing a Gaza peace deal and said more aid is entering the enclave now than at any point in five years.
  • A coalition of aid groups, including the Danish and Norwegian Refugee Councils, Oxfam, Refugees International, and Save the Children, issued a failing grade for the truce, citing closed or tightly limited crossings, the ban on UNRWA, stalled hospital and shelter repairs, and UN-coordinated deliveries that remain far below need.
  • Truthout reports that Israeli strikes have continued since the October 10, 2025 ceasefire took effect, with at least 757 Palestinians killed during that period.
  • NDTV reports a separate U.S.–Iran two-week ceasefire deal that officials describe as hanging by a thread.
