Valve Opens Steam Controller Reservations Today With Anti-Scalper Rules

The queue locks in order of purchase to curb resellers.

Overview

  • Valve's reservation queue for the Steam Controller opens Friday at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, giving each user a 72-hour window to buy when their email arrives.
  • Reservations are limited to one per account in good standing, and the account must have a prior Steam purchase before April 27, 2026, with buyers who already got one not eligible for another yet.
  • Valve says fulfillment will begin next week in the US and Canada, with the UK, EU and Australia following in the weeks after.
  • The move follows Monday's launch that sold out in minutes, produced checkout and payment errors, and prompted eBay listings at up to three times Valve's $99 price.
  • Valve is reviving the reservation model it used for the Steam Deck to manage demand and restore a fair path to purchase as stock is replenished.
