Vallejo Raid Finds Six VIN-Swapped Vehicles in Alleged Chop Shop, Suspect Arrested

Authorities will verify each vehicle’s identity prior to returning property to the rightful owners.

  • A 35-year-old man reportedly refused to open the door, prompting forced entry, and investigators say he broke his phone and started a bedroom fire to destroy evidence.
  • Detectives recovered six vehicles with altered or swapped VINs, including a 1966 Ford Mustang, a 1967 Ford Shelby Cobra GT Mustang, a 1969 Chevy Camaro SS, and a 2020 GMC 2500 Denali.
  • Additional items seized included a Chevy Corvette engine, a white 20-foot Cargo King enclosed trailer, and a black car trailer with a custom Chevy frame valued at about $300,000.
  • The suspect was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of possessing stolen vehicles, operating a chop shop, VIN tampering, possessing a vehicle with an altered VIN, and destroying evidence, and his name has not been released.
