Vallejo Man Arrested on Murder Charge After Police Pursuit

The arrest follows his identification in a May 1 homicide with detectives still investigating a May 19 Indiana Street shooting that could bring additional charges.

Overview

  • Vallejo officers located and arrested Roberto Alfonso Tamayo-Cazarez after a vehicle pursuit on Tuesday and booked him into Solano County Jail on charges including murder, firearm violations and evading officers.
  • Detectives identified Tamayo-Cazarez as a suspect in a May 1 shooting that left a woman dead and presented the case to the Solano County District Attorney, which led to an arrest warrant.
  • Investigators also named him the lead suspect in a separate shooting near the 600 block of Indiana Street that sent a man with non-life-threatening injuries to a hospital.
  • Police, assisted by the California Highway Patrol air unit, stopped his vehicle by puncturing its tires, chased him on foot and found him hiding outside a residence before taking him into custody.
  • Authorities have not released victim names and say the Indiana Street investigation remains active, so detectives may file additional charges as evidence develops.
