Valheim to Reach 1.0 on September 9 With Final 'Deep North' Biome

The update extends Valheim to PS5 and Switch 2 with full crossplay to give the studio a stable foundation for future work.

Overview

  • Iron Gate announced on Sunday that Valheim will leave early access and launch as version 1.0 on September 9, 2026 with the Deep North final biome.
  • Deep North is a frozen region that adds new enemies such as Gammeltrolls and Elakingar, new dungeons called Winding Tunnels, a grappling hook for traversal, and new weapons and gear.
  • The 1.0 release will arrive across PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 with full crossplay between all platforms at launch.
  • Developers warn the world generation and global changes may not fully apply to existing saves and recommend starting new worlds for the best 1.0 experience; they also expect a price increase when the game exits early access.
  • Valheim began early access in February 2021 and sold millions of copies during its five‑year development run, and Iron Gate frames 1.0 as a polished base for possible free updates or future expansions.
