Overview
- The door-to-door houselisting and household enumeration phase began on Friday, May 22, and officials reported that enumerators assigned census numbers to about 13,502,160 households on the first day.
- Census 2027 is India's first fully digital decennial count, with field staff using the HLO mobile app to replace paper forms and to upload house numbers, layout maps and survey data from thousands of houselisting blocks.
