Uttar Pradesh Launches Rs 2,000 Crore AI Health Mission, Seals India AI Partnership

A three-year rollout now links state funding with a national tie-up to push AI tools from pilots into routine public health services.

  • The two-day UP AI and Health Innovation Conference in Lucknow closed with formal announcements to make AI central to state health delivery.

  • An MoU was signed between the India AI Mission (Digital India Corporation/MeitY) and UPDESCO, which has been designated the state nodal agency for implementation.
  • Uttar Pradesh outlined 65 Data and AI Labs statewide, with two already operational at NIELIT Lucknow and Gorakhpur, one set up in Pilibhit, and 49 more approved as deployment begins.
  • Sessions highlighted practical adoption including telemedicine for rural areas, AI diagnostics in radiology and TB, tools for ASHA and Anganwadi workers, startup demos, and collaboration with bodies such as NITI Aayog, the National Health Authority, WHO, the World Bank, the Gates Foundation, and Google.
