Uttar Pradesh Draft Voter Roll Shrinks by 2.89 Crore After Special Intensive Revision

Election authorities now accept claims through February 6, with the final roll due March 6.

Overview

  • The draft roll retains 12.55 crore electors, down 18.7% from 15.44 crore, with deletions attributed to shifted or absent voters (about 2.17 crore), deceased (46.2 lakh), duplicates (25.5 lakh) and untraceable entries (79.5 lakh).
  • About 1.4 crore provisionally listed voters are classified as unmapped from the 2003 roll and will receive notices to submit specified documents to remain on the final list.
  • Claims and objections are open from January 6 to February 6, disposal is scheduled by February 27, and voters can use Forms 6/6A/7/8 via BLOs, Voter Registration Centres or online portals including voters.eci.gov.in.
  • Political parties have begun booth-level checks and filed 128 inclusion claims on day one, with the BJP submitting the most and no objections for deletions recorded in the initial tally.
  • Across 12 states and UTs covered in SIR Phase 2, draft rolls collectively show a reduction of roughly 6.5 crore electors, dropping from about 50.9 crore to 44.4 crore.
