Utah Judge Limits Taylor Frankie Paul to Supervised Visits, Grants Restraining Order Against Ex

The case now moves to an April 30 hearing that could reset custody and protection orders.

Overview

  • Taylor Frankie Paul, whose custody was at issue Tuesday, was limited to up to eight hours of supervised time per week with her 2-year-old son as Commissioner Russell Minas kept Dakota Mortensen as the temporary caregiver.
  • Paul also secured a temporary order requiring Mortensen to stay 100 yards away and avoid all contact, creating competing protective orders between the exes until the next hearing.
  • The court said visits must be monitored by a neutral third party approved by both sides, and Mortensen cannot use alcohol or drugs before or during Paul’s parenting time.
  • In a filing entered Tuesday, Paul alleged Mortensen showed possessive behavior, including a Valentine’s Day lip tattoo of her initials and persistent texts, while his lawyer accused her of trying to “assassinate” his character as a father.
  • Police in Draper confirmed an active domestic assault investigation with allegations in both directions and West Jordan is reviewing a separate 2024 incident, as the leaked 2023 video of Paul throwing metal stools helped trigger TV fallout and factored into the judge’s child-safety concerns.
