USPS Taps Ralph Lauren to Curate ‘American Icons’ Stamps for America’s 250th

The project sets a precedent for the agency by naming a single curator for an entire issuance.

Overview

  • USPS, which announced the collaboration Tuesday, will issue a 13‑stamp pane called American Icons with a center stamp of a knit flag reading “1776 to 2026.”
  • The set features photographs chosen from Ralph Lauren’s archive, including Jackie Robinson’s baseball glove, a Diné blanket woven by Naiomi Glasses, the Empire State Building, a weathered pickup, a flag, a barn, a lighthouse, a teddy bear, a dog, a hamburger, a racing sailboat, and wild horses.
  • This marks the first time the Postal Service has invited an individual to curate a complete official stamp issuance, according to the agency.
  • Sales begin June 9 across Post Office locations, select Ralph Lauren stores, and online, with a public dedication at 11 a.m. at the James A. Farley Post Office Building in New York that requires event registration.
  • Each stamp is a Forever stamp that always covers the current 1‑ounce First‑Class letter rate, and USPS also plans a 2026 U.S. Flag mail‑use stamp based on the knit flag image.
