Used EV Prices Fall 10% Year on Year as Q2 2026 Weakness Continues

Falling values are forcing dealers to revalue stock, opening the used market to more buyers by lowering entry costs.

Overview

  • AA Cars' Q2 2026 Used Car Index shows the average price of the 20 most searched-for used electric models dropped 10% year-on-year to £13,940 and fell a further 3.9% quarter-on-quarter.
  • Sharp year-on-year falls concentrated in specific models include the Tesla Model S (-18.7% to £17,901), Nissan Leaf (-17.3% to £8,146) and Jaguar I‑Pace (-14.4% to £18,647), while the Tesla Model 3 recorded a modest decline of 3.6% to £18,030.
  • Hybrid values proved resilient, rising 0.5% year-on-year to an average £17,581, and petrol and diesel asking prices softened by 5.3% year-on-year, shifting the relative appeal between powertrains.
  • Dealers face immediate pricing and part‑exchange pressures as they revalue used-EV stock, and AA Cars cautions buyers to check age, condition, battery health and specification before purchasing despite lower headline prices.
  • Separate CarGurus data for the first half of 2026 shows signs of recovery for some used EVs, with seven models rising in asking price, underlining that short-term demand and model mix will shape the market going forward.
