USCIS Sets March 4–19 H-1B Cap Registration as Wage-Weighted Selection Debuts

The wage-weighted system gives higher-paid roles better odds of selection.

Overview

  • The registration window runs from 12 p.m. ET March 4 to 12 p.m. ET March 19, with a $215 fee per beneficiary submitted through organizational accounts.
  • Under DHS’s final rule effective February 27, entries are weighted by DOL OEWS wage level: Level 4 gets four entries, Level 3 three, Level 2 two, and Level 1 one, with each beneficiary counted once.
  • USCIS expects to issue selection notifications by March 31 through users’ online accounts.
  • Registrations must include the SOC code, intended worksite area, and the prevailing wage level, and filed petitions must match these details or face denial or revocation.
  • A Presidential Proclamation’s $100,000 fee may apply to consular or port-of-entry H-1B filings, with legal challenges still in progress.
