USA Basketball Names 15 for Phoenix Camp With A'ja Wilson Returning

The short Phoenix session is one stop in USA Basketball's rotating evaluation plan before September's World Cup.

Overview

  • Team USA opened a three-day training camp in Phoenix on Wednesday, part of its lead-up to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin this September.
  • The 15-player group features A’ja Wilson and Sabrina Ionescu alongside holdovers from the March qualifiers such as Paige Bueckers, Monique Billings and Rae Burrell.
  • Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are not in this camp after starring in the undefeated qualifying window in San Juan, a planned rotation the staff is using to cycle through the wider pool.
  • Napheesa Collier is attending but will sit out on-court work as she recovers from injury, and USC guard JuJu Watkins is a limited participant as she returns from an ACL tear.
  • Head coach Kara Lawson and managing director Sue Bird are using this Final Four–timed camp to test lineups without a game to follow, with more evaluation windows expected before a final 12 is named.
