US Embassy Opens 'Let Freedom Ring' Liberty Bell Exhibition in Islamabad

Overview

• The exhibition was launched by the US Mission in Islamabad with US Chargé d’Affaires Andy Halus and Pakistan’s Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi present at the opening ceremony.
• Sixteen Pakistani artists were commissioned to create unique Liberty Bell artworks that each answer the question “What does freedom mean to me?” through local styles and themes.
• The public display runs from July 23 to July 27 at Lok Virsa Museum and the Pakistan Monument Museum and is open for visitors during the five-day period.
• The project is part of the US Mission Pakistan’s year-long Freedom 250 programme, a global series of cultural and public engagement events marking the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
• Organizers say the initiative uses art and heritage venues to build people-to-people ties, invite public dialogue about expression and freedom, and strengthen cultural exchange between Pakistan and the United States.
