U.S. and Japan Log First Live SPY-7 Target Tracking in ASEV Integration Test

The events validated initial integration of SPY-7 with Japan's Aegis System Equipped Vessel configuration.

Overview

  • The Missile Defense Agency announced March 20 that JFTX-01 successfully tracked live targets during tests held March 17 and 19 off the U.S. East Coast.
  • The developmental series comprised two events with a live target launched for each, using SPY-7 integrated with the Aegis Weapon System.
  • Tracking concluded with virtual target engagements designed to generate distinct data sets for integration analysis.
  • MDA led the effort with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, collecting data on search, detection, identification, tracking, and engagement performance.
  • Following completion of integration testing that includes JFTX-01, ASEV Shipset 1 equipment will be delivered to Japan.
