URC Publishes 2026/27 Fixtures Early, Unveils Optimised South African Tour Plan

The schedule uses data-led modeling with broadcasters to balance travel with kickoff needs.

Overview

  • The league released the full 2026/27 fixture list Tuesday, 129 days before Round 1, which starts on September 25–26.
  • Round 1 features marquee ties across all territories, including Munster vs Glasgow in Limerick, Connacht vs Stormers in Galway, and Lions vs Leinster in Johannesburg.
  • Each South African team will complete three two-game tours, a new setup that clusters away matches to ease long-haul travel.
  • The competition format is unchanged with the top eight reaching the play-offs, with quarter-finals on May 28–29, semi-finals on June 5, and the Grand Final on June 19.
  • URC again used Ligalytics to model travel, stadium availability, and TV slots, and the calendar includes festive derby rounds across late December and early January.
