UPSC Releases ESE Mains 2026 Timetable, Exam Set for June 21 in Two Shifts

The schedule helps prelims qualifiers plan for two three-hour descriptive papers that feed into the final personality test.

Overview

  • The Union Public Service Commission posted the official ESE Mains 2026 timetable on upsc.gov.in and advised candidates to download the notice.
  • The Main examination will run on June 21, 2026 in two sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Stage II consists of two conventional, or descriptive, papers in the candidate’s engineering branch, each three hours and 300 marks for a total of 600.
  • Only candidates who cleared the preliminary exam are eligible for the Mains, with prelims results released on February 27, 2026.
  • UPSC will fix the qualifying marks for Stages I and II, and those who meet them will be called for Stage III, which is the personality test.
