Overview
- NPCI data shows February UPI transactions at 20.39 billion with value at Rs 26.84 lakh crore, rising 27% and 22% year on year, respectively.
- Totals eased from January’s 21.70 billion transactions and Rs 28.33 lakh crore, a sequential dip largely attributed in coverage to February’s shorter length.
- Average daily usage climbed to about 728 million transactions and Rs 95,865 crore, both higher than January’s daily averages.
- Other rails expanded too: IMPS logged 336 million transactions worth Rs 6.42 lakh crore (14% YoY) and FASTag reached 350 million worth Rs 6,925 crore (5% YoY).
- UPI’s footprint now spans over eight countries, and India and Israel announced plans to enable cross‑border UPI use; a Finance Ministry–commissioned study finds UPI at 57% of payment transactions versus 38% for cash.
