UP Waqf Tribunal Extends UMEED Registration Deadline by Six Months to June 5, 2026

The panel cited persistent portal glitches that made the original cutoff unworkable.

Overview

  • Granting the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board’s plea, the tribunal invoked the Section 3B proviso of the amended UMEED Act, noting the Supreme Court’s direction that extensions fall within tribunal jurisdiction.
  • By the December 6 cutoff, uploads had been initiated for 86,347 of roughly 1.26 lakh UP institutions, leaving about 40,000 still to be registered.
  • The UP board said it will send the order to central authorities to enable portal access to resume, as helplines and civil-society camps continue assisting mutawallis.
  • Nationwide, 517,082 properties were initiated on UMEED, with more than 243,582 started in the final six days following server capacity upgrades.
  • Other states have received relief too, with Punjab’s tribunals granting extensions of up to six months, while Telangana reports about 16,700 pending entries due to archival record hurdles and late awareness.
