- Yogi Adityanath, visiting Lakhimpur Kheri on Saturday, said Miyanpur will be called Rabindranagar and handed ownership papers to 331 Bengali-speaking Hindu families.
- Earlier in Palia, the chief minister issued land titles to 4,356 Tharu families and to 2,350 dependents of freedom fighters.
- He said the government would withdraw cases filed against members of the Tharu community during the previous Samajwadi Party tenure.
- Villagers who migrated from East Pakistan in 1947 and 1971 said the new name gives them a proper identity for a settlement where they long held only use rights over land.
